Multiplayer Mode: How to Organize an Online Game with Friends

Complete guide to playing Mystery Maker in multiplayer: creating rooms, synchronizing players and tips for the perfect game night.

Mystery Maker's multiplayer mode lets you play with friends online in real time. Everyone sees the same case, advances together, and debates in sync. Here's how to set it up.

    Creating a Room

    1. Go to the main menu and select Multiplayer.

    2. Click Create Room – you'll become the host.

    3. Share the Room ID with your friends (they can copy it or you can send it via chat).

    4. Friends join by entering the Room ID in Join Room.

    Host Responsibilities

As host, you control the flow:

  1. Configure the case: Choose case type, number of suspects (must match players), clues, scenario and difficulty.
  2. Generate the case: Once everyone is in, click Generate. Others will see a loading screen.
  3. Advance phases: Each player must mark "Ready" before you can move to the next phase.
  4. Moderate discussion: During rounds, you control when to advance. Give everyone time to debate.
  5. Tips for a Smooth Game

    1. Stable connection: Ensure everyone has good internet. A dropout can disrupt the game.

    2. Voice chat: Use Discord, Zoom or similar for real-time discussion. The game syncs the case; you discuss aloud.

    3. Number of suspects = number of players: This is required. Plan accordingly.

    4. Start with Easy/Medium: For first-time groups, avoid Hard to keep everyone engaged.

    Best Group Sizes

  6. 3-4 players: Intimate, focused. Great for learning the game.
  7. 5-6 players: Sweet spot. Enough suspects, manageable discussion.
  8. 7-8 players: Chaos, but fun. Requires a confident host to keep order.
  9. Ready to play? Create a room and invite your detective squad!
